TEXT IN BIP of: Yeast lipases: enzyme purification, biochemical properties and gene cloning

During the last 25 years, the rapidly expanding area of Biotechnology has had a profound social impact, which is expected to increase further in forthcoming years. Its broad applications in many diverse aspects of agriculture, medicine, industry and trade has forced the implementation of biosafety and environmental regulations. Moreover, the general public is faced continuously to make decisions related with biotechnology.

In this way, Biotechnology is revealing itself as an area of knowledge which must be opened to the public. In order to make information available and appealing to a broader public Electronic Journal of Biotechnology is working towards a new concept of scientific communication, called BIP or Biotechnology in Public, which is a shorter version of the scientific paper, written by the author after the manuscript has been accepted for publication in Electronic Journal of Biotechnology.
